COROS Pace 4 Spring 2026 Update: Pace Strategy, Hill Alerts and Multisport Improvements

COROS dropped its most significant firmware update of the year in March 2026, and for triathlon training the improvements are genuinely useful. Version 3.1508.0 adds Pace Strategy, Hill Alerts, and a redesigned multisport activity mode — features that were previously exclusive to Garmin’s ecosystem. Here’s everything the update adds to the COROS Pace 4 and how to make the most of it.

Pace Strategy: Race Planning on Your Wrist

The headline feature of the Spring 2026 update is Pace Strategy. You set up a race plan in the COROS app — including target finish time, aid station stops, and segment pacing — and the watch delivers real-time guidance during the event. On the run, you can see whether you’re ahead or behind your planned pace, how much time you’ve spent stationary (at feed stations or T2), and an updated estimated finish time. For anyone racing against a personal best or executing a negative-split strategy, this turns the Pace 4 into a proper race-day tool rather than just a training device.

Hill Alerts: Know What’s Coming Before You Hit It

Hill Alerts notify you of upcoming climbs and descents before you reach them — not after you’ve already started suffering. The watch auto-detects the gradient and distance from your loaded route and gives you a heads-up with enough time to adjust pacing, shift gear mentally, or prepare your nutrition strategy. DC Rainmaker called this “rivals Garmin’s ClimbPro” in his coverage of the update, which is high praise given how long ClimbPro has been the gold standard for climb guidance.

Multisport Improvements for Triathletes

This is where the update gets most interesting for triathlon-specific use. Two new behaviours change how the Pace 4 handles multi-discipline sessions:

  • Activity summary dropdown — After a triathlon or brick session, you can now tap through swim, bike, and run segments individually within a single activity summary on the watch itself. Previously you had to use the COROS app to break down the splits.
  • Change Activity mid-session — You can now pause an outdoor activity and switch discipline (for example, from swim to bike) and all segments combine into a single reviewable triathlon activity. For brick training or open water to bike transitions, this removes the friction of logging separate activities.

Other Features in the Spring Update

  • Hybrid Fitness mode — A new dedicated activity type for gym-based hybrid training sessions.
  • Weekly Distance widget — See your current week’s total volume across all disciplines directly from the watch face.
  • Passcode lock — A 4-digit PIN activates automatically when the watch is removed from your wrist.
  • Race Predictor trend view — Track your predicted race times improving over time as fitness builds.
  • Finish Pause option — Choose whether a structured workout pauses or continues recording after the final interval stage completes.

How to Update

Connect your COROS Pace 4 to the COROS app on your phone and navigate to Device Settings. If v3.1508.0 is available for your watch, you’ll see an update prompt. The process takes around 5–10 minutes over Wi-Fi. Once updated, Pace Strategy and Hill Alerts are configured in the COROS app under the Race Planner section before being pushed to the watch.

Is This Update Worth It?

Yes — especially if you race on a schedule. The Pace Strategy feature alone closes a meaningful gap between the COROS ecosystem and Garmin’s race planning tools, and the multisport improvements are practical wins for anyone doing brick sessions or full triathlon events. The Hill Alerts are a welcome addition for hilly races and training rides. If you already own a COROS Pace 4, this is a free upgrade that genuinely extends what the watch can do.
