HOKA Stinson 8 Preview: Everything We Know About the Summer 2026 Launch

HOKA’s Stinson line has long been the go-to choice for triathletes who want maximum cushioning for long training runs — and the Stinson 8 is shaping up to be the best version yet. Unveiled at The Running Event at the end of 2025, the Stinson 8 is set for a summer 2026 release with notable updates to both the midsole construction and overall weight. Here’s everything we know so far.

What’s New in the Stinson 8

The most significant change is a reformulated dual-density midsole that adds a softer bottom layer underneath an enhanced H-frame stability layer, providing better shock absorption on hard surfaces while maintaining the heel-to-toe transition Stinson fans expect. HOKA has also trimmed one millimetre of overall stack height: the Stinson 8 measures 44mm heel / 39mm forefoot for men and 43mm / 38mm for women — still maximum cushion territory but with a slightly more connected ground feel than its predecessor.

Key Specs (Men’s)

  • Stack height: 44mm heel / 39mm forefoot (5mm drop)
  • Weight: 11.3oz (320g) — lightest Stinson ever
  • Midsole: Dual-density EVA with H-Frame stability layer
  • Outsole: Vibram Megagrip rubber for grip on varied surfaces
  • Upper: Updated engineered mesh for breathability and structure

Key Specs (Women’s)

  • Stack height: 43mm heel / 38mm forefoot
  • Weight: 9.6oz (272g)
  • Same midsole and outsole updates as men’s

Who Is the Stinson 8 For?

The Stinson sits between HOKA’s road trainers and technical trail shoes — it’s designed for mixed-terrain athletes who cover road, gravel, and packed trails in the same shoe. For triathletes, it’s an excellent long-run training shoe for athletes who are heavy on their feet, returning from injury, or simply prioritise cushioning comfort over speed. It’s not a racing flat, but for easy and moderate-effort training days it’s one of the most protective options in HOKA’s range.

Availability

The HOKA Stinson 8 is expected to launch in summer 2026. No UK RRP has been confirmed yet, but based on the Stinson 7’s pricing (approximately £150–165), expect a similar bracket. We’ll update this page with the full review and where to buy as soon as the shoe drops. In the meantime, the Stinson 7 remains available and is a strong shoe in its own right — check the HOKA UK site for current availability and sizing.
