Wahoo Launches an Apple Watch App: What It Does and What’s Missing
Wahoo launched a watchOS app on 8 September 2026, so an Apple Watch can now record workouts straight into the Wahoo ecosystem. If you update the iOS Wahoo app, the watch app should install on your Apple Watch automatically. The5KRunner tested it on an Apple Watch Ultra 3.
What the app does
- Records workouts, including runs and bike rides.
- Supports structured training.
- Connects to power and heart rate sensors.
- Works with the KICKR RUN treadmill.
- Shows configurable data screens during a workout.
Coming later
According to The5KRunner, Apple Watch health data such as heart rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep will feed into the same Wahoo profile later this year, once Wahoo’s platform expands its recovery metrics. That isn’t live yet.
Limits to know about
- The5KRunner’s review doesn’t state a minimum watchOS version or a list of supported Apple Watch models, so check the App Store listing before you rely on an older watch.
- Core running training plans probably still need to come from Wahoo SYSTM, per the same review.
- The reviewer says it isn’t aimed at the extremes: the longest events, slowest finish times and niche requirements.
What it means for triathletes
Most triathletes who train with Wahoo hardware use an ELEMNT bike computer or a KICKR trainer alongside a separate GPS watch. The Apple Watch app lets Wahoo users on iPhone keep run and general workouts in the same account as their bike data. Pricing for the watch app hasn’t been stated. Wahoo has moved its platform to paid subscriptions, so check what the app requires before you commit.
