European Triathlon Championship Tarragona 2026 Results: Conway and Tertsch Claim Gold
Oliver Conway Claims Back-to-Back Victories
Oliver Conway delivered one of the performances of his career at the 2026 European Triathlon Championship in Tarragona, Spain, crossing the finish line in 1:47:08 to claim gold — just seven days after winning the Supertri Blenheim Palace. The 25-year-old British athlete showed no signs of fatigue as he powered clear on the run leg, leaving his rivals unable to respond.
Michael Gar sprinted to silver in 1:47:44, with Sanchez Mantecon completing the podium in 1:47:58 in front of a passionate crowd on Spain’s Costa Daurada.

Tertsch Dethrones Defending Champion Vermeylen
The women’s race produced a stunning upset as Lisa Tertsch defeated defending champion Jolien Vermeylen to claim European gold. Vermeylen, who had won at Blenheim Palace the previous weekend, was unable to hold off Tertsch in the final stages of the run, with the German athlete proving her class on the fast Tarragona course.
Course and Conditions
The race took place on a standard Olympic distance course (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run) in warm Mediterranean conditions. Tarragona’s technical bike course and pan-flat run route suited athletes with strong run speed, which ultimately proved decisive in both races.
What This Means for WTCS Quiberon
Conway’s form heading into WTCS Quiberon (June 20) is exceptional — back-to-back victories in nine days marks him as one of the hottest athletes in the sport. Vermeylen will be looking to bounce back at Quiberon, while Tertsch’s win positions her as a genuine contender for the remainder of the 2026 World Triathlon Championship Series season.
