Blenheim Palace Triathlon 2026 Results: National Champions Crowned, Brownlee’s Record Weekend
The 2026 Blenheim Palace Triathlon delivered one of the most memorable weekends in British triathlon history — combining the British and English Sprint Distance National Championships with Jonny Brownlee’s audacious ten-triathlon record bid and the debut of the Supertri Pro Series at the iconic Oxfordshire venue.
National Champions Crowned
The sprint distance race on Saturday 6 June served as both the British and English Sprint Distance Championships and a GB Age-Group Team Qualifier for the 2026 Europe Triathlon Sprint Distance Championships. When the dust settled, Donald Brooks claimed the overall male national title in an impressive 01:03:29, while Christine Durbin took the women’s crown in 01:11:15.
The Blenheim course — a 750m swim in the Great Lake, 20km bike through the Palace grounds and a 5km run — is one of the most scenic in British triathlon, with thousands of spectators lining the route across the June weekend.
Jonny Brownlee’s Weekend Warrior Record Bid
The event’s most compelling story came from two-time Olympic medallist Jonny Brownlee, who lined up alongside everyday age-groupers for a record-breaking attempt at the Weekend Warrior challenge — completing 10 sprint triathlons across the two-day event. No athlete had previously attempted this feat in the history of the challenge.
Brownlee successfully completed six races on Day One (Saturday), accumulating 4.5km of swimming, 120km of cycling and 30km of running in a single day. He was on track to surpass the record on Sunday. Matthew Thompson won the Weekend Warrior event outright among the age-group competitors.
“It’s an immense challenge given the time cut-offs,” Brownlee said ahead of the weekend. “I’ll be racing in every start wave, from first to last.” The sight of one of Britain’s greatest ever triathletes competing shoulder-to-shoulder with first-timers and club athletes captured everything that makes the Blenheim event unique.
Supertri Pro Series Makes Its Blenheim Debut
Sunday 7 June also marked the debut of the Supertri Pro Series at Blenheim Palace, bringing a world-class professional field to race on the same course as amateurs — a format that distinguishes Supertri events from most elite racing.
The women’s field was led by home favourite Jessica Fullagar, Belgian star Jolien Vermeylen and Spain’s three-time Olympian Miriam Casillas García. The men’s line-up included former Supertri E World Triathlon Champion Chase McQueen (USA) and Paris 2024 Olympian Mitch Kolkman (Netherlands). The Supertri Pro Series race also doubled as a stage of British Triathlon’s Super Series, offering UK elite athletes qualification points for the Pro Series Final and its $800,000 prize pool.
The UK’s Biggest Triathlon
2026 marked the first year Supertri have operated the Blenheim Palace Triathlon, bringing the Sprint, Super-Sprint and Weekend Warrior formats under one banner. The event remains the largest triathlon in the UK by participant numbers — a fitting venue for national championship racing and elite Supertri competition alike.
For UK triathletes looking ahead, the next major domestic event is IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton on 7 June, followed by the Outlaw Full Distance Triathlon in Nottingham on 19 July.
