WTCS Quiberon 2026: Race Week Preview & Start List – Hayden Wilde Returns
WTCS Quiberon 2026 takes place on June 20–21 with one of the season’s most compelling storylines front and centre: Hayden Wilde’s return to the WTCS circuit. The New Zealand star — arguably the most explosive athlete on the draft-legal circuit when fit — is back after a frustrating injury layoff, and Quiberon is his moment to remind the world why he was considered the favourite for the overall title.
Course Overview
Quiberon sits on a narrow peninsula in Brittany, France. The 1.5km swim cuts through Quiberon Bay with Atlantic conditions that can vary dramatically — choppy water has broken up start groups in previous editions. The technical bike course winds through the town and coastal roads, rewarding riders who can handle technical corners at speed. The flat 10km run along the promenade is fast when the wind is behind you and brutal when it is not.
Men’s Contenders
Hayden Wilde (NZL) — The headline act. Wilde’s run speed is unmatched in the men’s field and his ability to push hard on the bike before unleashing a sub-29-minute 10km makes him the man to beat whenever he toes the line. His comeback form will be tested here against the best in the world.
Alex Yee (GBR) — The reigning WTCS champion has been in excellent form all season. Yee’s tactical intelligence on the technical Quiberon bike course gives him an edge and he has podiumed here before. He will be looking to extend his points lead over Wilde.
Léo Bergère (FRA) — Racing on home soil in front of a passionate French crowd. Bergère is a complete athlete and a powerful biker who can hurt rivals before the run. His consistency at the top level makes him a podium certainty.
Dorian Coninx (FRA) — Another home favourite who enters Quiberon in excellent form following his win at WTCS Alghero. Coninx thrives in European conditions and his run off the bike is frighteningly quick. A double French podium is a genuine possibility.
Women’s Contenders
Julie Derron (SUI) — The Olympic silver medallist has been consistently podiuming across the WTCS season. Derron’s strength lies in her composure and tactical racing — she rarely makes costly mistakes and is a near-certainty for the top three.
Jess Learmonth (GBR) — Learmonth’s dominant swim and bike can disrupt the entire women’s field. If she can ride away from the main group in Quiberon, the run becomes a very different race for everyone chasing.
Emma Lombardi (FRA) — The young French star has been building impressively through 2026 and home racing brings out something extra in her performances. A podium in Quiberon would be a career breakthrough.
