ASICS Superblast 3: Everything You Need to Know Before the March 1 Launch
The ASICS Superblast 3 launches on 1 March 2026, and it could be one of the most important running shoe releases of the year for triathletes. The cult super-trainer has been given a serious upgrade — here is everything you need to know before it drops.
What Is the ASICS Superblast?
The Superblast has been a favourite among triathletes and endurance runners since its first release. It sits in the category of super trainers — shoes with maximum cushioning and significant energy return, designed for long-distance training runs and even racing at slower paces. Unlike pure carbon-plate race shoes, the Superblast has no carbon plate, making it more versatile for daily training while still offering serious performance benefits.
What Is New in the Superblast 3?
The biggest change in the Superblast 3 is the foam. ASICS has replaced the FlyteFoam Turbo Plus midsole with FF Leap — the same next-generation foam featured in their flagship METASPEED race shoes. This delivers a 15% increase in energy return compared to the Superblast 2, meaning more spring back with every stride.
- Midsole: FF Leap foam — 15% more energy return than Superblast 2
- Stack height: 46.6mm (up from 45mm) — more cushioning, same responsiveness
- Weight: Lighter than the Superblast 2 despite the increased stack
- Forefoot bounce pod: More pronounced diamond shape for greater propulsion at toe-off
- Upper: Revised engineered weave for a sleeker, more precise fit
- Lacing: Cord loops replacing traditional eyelets for a customised lockdown
Who Should Buy the ASICS Superblast 3?
The Superblast 3 is aimed at endurance athletes who want maximum cushioning for long training runs without sacrificing responsiveness. For triathletes, it makes an excellent option for your longest training runs during base building and for race day if you are targeting times of 50 minutes or slower for a 10km run leg. Athletes chasing fast 5km splits would be better served by a carbon-plate shoe, but for the majority of age-group triathletes the Superblast 3 will perform brilliantly across Olympic and 70.3 distances.
Pricing and Where to Buy
The ASICS Superblast 3 is expected to retail at around 200 pounds in the UK, launching 1 March 2026 through ASICS.com and select running retailers. Given its immediate sell-out history with previous models, it is worth setting a reminder or adding it to your wish list before launch day.
Should You Wait or Buy the Superblast 2?
If you are in the market for a new trainer now, it is worth waiting a few days for the Superblast 3. The FF Leap foam upgrade is significant — the increase in energy return and the lighter weight make the 3 a meaningfully better shoe than the 2. The Superblast 2 will likely see price drops at retailers after the launch, making it a solid budget option if the new model is out of stock.
We will be publishing a full review of the ASICS Superblast 3 as soon as we have had a chance to test it on the roads. Check back on 1 March 2026 for our verdict.
