T100 San Francisco 2026 Men’s Race: Preview, Pro Field and How to Watch
The T100 Triathlon World Tour heads to San Francisco on Saturday 6 June 2026 for the men’s race — an iconic event set against the backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. Based on the legendary Escape from Alcatraz course, this is one of the most dramatic venues in all of triathlon. Here’s your full preview.
Race Overview
- Date: Saturday 6 June 2026
- Location: San Francisco, USA
- Series: T100 Triathlon World Tour (Men’s Race)
- Distance: 2km swim / 80km bike / 18km run
- Prize money: $275,000 ($50,000 to the winner)
- Season position: Second T100 men’s race of 2026
The Course
Swim: The T100 San Francisco swim takes place in the cold, tidal waters of San Francisco Bay — water temperatures in early June hover around 14–16°C. Athletes race in wetsuits in conditions that are notoriously challenging. The swim course is inspired by the famous Escape from Alcatraz event, with a boat start offshore and a demanding current to contend with. Strong open water swimmers with good sighting ability have a significant advantage.
Bike: The 80km bike course winds through the streets of San Francisco, crossing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and heading into the Marin Headlands. Expect significant climbing and a challenging technical profile — this is no flat aero course. Riders with strong climbing ability and bike handling will gain time on their rivals.
Run: The 18km run returns athletes through San Francisco’s famous waterfront and Fisherman’s Wharf district. Three loops of a demanding course with rolling hills provide plenty of tactical opportunities. After the cold swim and hilly bike, the run typically sees significant reshuffling of positions.
Pro Athletes to Watch
Hayden Wilde (New Zealand) arrives as the season leader after winning T100 Singapore in April 2026. The Kiwi has been in outstanding form across both T100 and WTCS competition and is the man to beat in San Francisco.
Matt Hauser (Australia) made his T100 debut at Singapore and will be looking to go one better in San Francisco. The Brisbane-born athlete is one of the strongest cyclists in the field and the Bay Area hills could suit him well.
Other contenders include Sam Laidlow (France), whose powerful bike-to-run combination fits this demanding course perfectly, and Magnus Ditlev (Denmark), who will look to leverage his superior bike engine to build an insurmountable lead off the 80km ride.
T100 Prize Money and Format
With $275,000 on offer — $50,000 to the winner — the T100 remains one of the richest individual prize purses in triathlon. The 2026 season runs without guaranteed athlete contracts, with prize money earned entirely on performance. Athletes next meet on the men’s circuit at T100 French Riviera on 19 September 2026.
