IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside 2026: Blummenfelt and Knibb Smash Course Records
The 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside delivered one of the most memorable days in the event’s history on 28 March, as both Kristian Blummenfelt and Taylor Knibb shattered course records on the California coast. Here’s the full results roundup from Oceanside.
Men’s Race: Blummenfelt Dominates
Norwegian superstar Kristian Blummenfelt claimed victory in 3:40:08, setting a new course record and underlining his status as one of triathlon’s most versatile performers. Jonas Schomburg of Germany took second place, with fellow Norwegian Casper Stornes completing a Norwegian one-three on the podium.
Blummenfelt, the Tokyo Olympic champion and 2021 IRONMAN World Champion, was in imperious form throughout. He led out of the water and never relinquished the lead, riding and running with trademark efficiency and power across the Oceanside course.
Women’s Race: Knibb Shatters Her Own Record
Taylor Knibb produced arguably the day’s most breathtaking performance, crossing the line in 4:01:39 — nearly five minutes faster than her own previous course record. The American had already rewritten the record books in Oceanside before, but this demolition of the benchmark was on another level entirely.
Norway’s Solveig Løvseth was a distant second as Knibb simply went to another dimension on both the bike and the run. The result reinforces why Knibb is considered one of the most complete female triathletes on the planet right now.
