WTCS London 2026 Spectator Guide: Best Viewing Spots, Travel and Race Day Tips
World Triathlon Championship Series London returns on 25-26 July 2026 with one of the best spectator experiences in the sport. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Royal Victoria Docks in east London, the course puts fans within metres of elite athletes at multiple points across all three disciplines. Here is everything you need to know to make the most of race weekend.
The Venue: Royal Victoria Docks
The Royal Victoria Dock is one of London’s most spectacular sporting backdrops. The dock forms the swim course, offering spectators elevated views of the entire swim from the DLR bridge. The bike course is traffic-free and runs along the Northern Approach Road near ExCeL London, with multiple loop sections meaning you can watch athletes pass three to four times from the same spot. The run course winds along the dock waterfront close to the finish line, making it easy to cheer athletes home across sprint, Olympic and elite racing.
Best Viewing Spots
- DLR Bridge (Custom House Station): Elevated view directly over the swim course. Arrive early for a prime position and watch the swim start and turns from above.
- Dock Waterfront (north side): The closest point to athletes on the run course. You will see athletes pass multiple times. Bring a folding chair and something to eat.
- Transition Zone viewing area: Free to access on race day. Watch T1 and T2 unfold in real time — this is where races are won and lost.
- Finish Line grandstand: The atmosphere here is electric during the elite finishes. Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled finish time to secure a space.
- Bike course turn points: Two tight corners bring athletes to near-standstill speed, giving a close-up view of aero positions and equipment.
Getting There
Royal Victoria Dock is best reached by DLR (Docklands Light Railway). Take the DLR from Bank or Tower Gateway to Custom House station — the venue is a two-minute walk from the exit. The Elizabeth Line also serves Custom House. On race day, platforms can be busy around elite start times so allow 90 minutes travel from central London.
Driving is not recommended — road closures for the bike course affect much of the surrounding area. Check the Transport for London race-day traffic notice published the week before.
How to Watch at Home
Can’t make it in person? The elite races will be streamed live on triathlonlive.tv (subscription required) with expert commentary. World Triathlon also publishes same-day highlights on its YouTube channel. The women’s elite race typically runs Saturday morning, with the men on Sunday — check the official schedule closer to the date for confirmed start times.
Practical Tips
