WTCS Hamburg 2026 Mixed Relay Results: France Win World Title and Book LA28 Spot
France won the 2026 World Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships in Hamburg on 11 July, beating Hungary and Great Britain to the title and sealing automatic qualification for the LA28 Olympics. Defending champions Australia were eliminated from contention before the race really began, when world U23 champion Richelle Hill pulled out unwell during the opening swim leg.
Results
Dorian Coninx anchored France home on the final 1.6km run leg, outsprinting Hungary’s Csongor Lehmann to the line. It was Hungary’s first mixed relay world championship podium in twelve years. Great Britain’s anchor Oliver Conway brought home bronze, while the United States finished fourth, agonisingly short of the podium. Hosts Germany were fifth.

Australia’s Misfortune
Defending champions Australia didn’t make it past the first leg. World U23 champion Richelle Hill felt unwell during the swim and the team was withdrawn, meaning Matt Hauser — fresh off his third consecutive individual WTCS Hamburg victory the day before — never got the chance to race the relay.
Season Implications
The win books France’s mixed relay spot at the LA28 Olympics more than two years out from the Games. For Hungary, a first mixed relay podium in over a decade marks a genuine turning point for their relay programme, while the USA’s fourth-place finish — narrowly missing the podium despite a strong final leg — will sting.
