Garmin Edge Explore 3 and Tacx Nēra Launch: What Garmin Announced

Garmin announced two new Edge Explore bike computers and an updated Tacx trainer on 20 October 2026, alongside the Edge 1060. We have not tested any of them, so this page covers what Garmin and early coverage report.

Edge Explore 3 and Explore 3 Plus

  • Who they are for: recreational riders, commuters and e-bike riders, rather than racers.
  • Navigation: a touchscreen with mapping and navigation.
  • E-bikes: connects to compatible e-bike systems to show battery status and assist levels.
  • Safety: LiveTrack location sharing, incident detection and real-time weather alerts.
  • Accessories: works with Varia radars and smart lights.
  • Messaging: Garmin Messenger on both models.
  • Explore 3 Plus only: a built-in microphone for hands-free voice control and voice messages.

Battery life, weight and UK dates were not stated in the coverage we checked, and launch prices differed between sources, so check Garmin’s UK site for the current figures. For racing and structured training, the flagship Edge models are the better fit: see our Garmin Edge 1050 review and best cycling computers for triathlon guide.

Tacx Nēra smart trainer

  • Accuracy: Garmin claims power and cadence accuracy within 1%.
  • Motion: built-in motion pods let the bike move forward, backward and side to side.
  • Drivetrain: a cassette comes preinstalled.
  • Zwift Ready version: adds a preinstalled Zwift Cog and a Zwift Click for virtual shifting.
  • UK price: £859.99 at launch, according to road.cc, which lists the Wahoo KICKR at £774.99.

Max power, maximum gradient and flywheel details were not in the coverage we read. Until they are, compare it against the trainers we have reviewed: Tacx Neo 3M, Wahoo KICKR and our best smart trainers under £1,000.
