WTCS Alghero 2026 Race Results: Hidalgo Makes History, Beaugrand Completes Hat-Trick

Miguel Hidalgo delivered one of the most significant results in Brazilian triathlon history on Saturday in Alghero, Sardinia — winning the 2026 WTCS Alghero in 1:44:05 to claim Brazil’s first ever World Triathlon Championship Series gold medal. In the women’s race, Cassandre Beaugrand completed a stunning hat-trick of victories in Sardinia, bouncing back from a mid-season dip to reassert herself as the world’s best.

Men’s Race: Hidalgo Writes History

The 25-year-old emerged from a nine-strong bike break that had put 90 seconds into the rest of the field, then lit up the run with a blistering 30:09 10km split — a margin no rival could match. Matt Hauser took silver 28 seconds back, with Léo Bergere rounding out the podium in third. For Hidalgo, who has long been tipped as a future WTCS winner, it was a defining performance that cements Brazil as a growing force in short-course triathlon.

Women’s Race: Beaugrand Hat-Trick

Cassandre Beaugrand was phenomenal in the women’s race, winning in Sardinia for a third consecutive time — having previously taken gold in Cagliari and at last year’s inaugural Alghero edition. The Olympic and world champion clocked a searing 34:33 run split to finish 38 seconds clear of Italy’s Bianca Seregni, with Great Britain’s Olivia Mathias taking third. After Tilda Månsson‘s breakthrough win in Yokohama, this result re-establishes Beaugrand’s dominance heading into the summer series.

Season Implications

With WTCS races in Quiberon (June 20), Hamburg (July 11) and London (July 25) still to come, both overall titles remain wide open. Hidalgo’s win reshuffles the men’s standings, while Beaugrand’s third Sardinian gold strengthens her case for a second world title. LA28 Olympic qualification points are accumulating with every race — making the back half of the WTCS season critical for athletes on the bubble.
