T100 Singapore 2026: Hayden Wilde vs Matt Hauser in Season-Opening Showdown
The T100 Triathlon World Tour arrives at Singapore's Marina Bay on 25–26 April with a $275,000 prize purse and a men's race that pits the sport's two most dominant short-course performers against each other for the first time at the 100km distance.
The Clash at the Top
Hayden Wilde (New Zealand) is the reigning T100 Singapore champion and the man who has defined the 100km format since its inception. A relentless bike-run specialist, Wilde has an uncanny ability to lift his pace in the closing kilometres of the 18km run — a finishing kick that has broken rivals who looked comfortably placed going into the run.
Matt Hauser (Australia) arrives as the reigning World Triathlon champion and makes his T100 Singapore debut as the most hyped newcomer to the 100km world. Hauser's top-end speed is electric, but sustaining that over 80km of hard bike riding before an 18km run represents a very different physiological challenge to his usual 55-minute Olympic races.
The Rest of the Field
- Gregor Payet (France) — making his 100km debut, the track specialist brings raw pace that could unsettle the established order
- Pierre Le Corre (France) — another T100 debutant; an accomplished Olympic-distance athlete who could excel at the longer format
- Women's race follows on Sunday 26 April — full start list at events.triathlon.org
The Course
Singapore's T100 course is one of the most visually spectacular in global triathlon. The 2km swim takes place in Marina Bay, followed by an 80km bike leg through the financial district and over the iconic Sheares Bridge. The 18km run circles the waterfront in sweltering heat and humidity — a brutal final leg that separates those who paced the bike correctly from those who went too hard.
Our Prediction
Wilde's experience at this format on this course is the decisive edge. Hauser will be dangerous if he can match Wilde through the bike, but the Kiwi's race management over 100km is proven. Expect Wilde to control the pace and strike on the run — unless Hauser's superior raw speed makes itself felt earlier than anticipated.
