Oulton Park Spring Duathlon 2026: Lonsdale and Alexander Crowned British Champions

The 2026 Oulton Park Spring Duathlon delivered an action-packed day of racing at the famous Cheshire motor racing circuit on 29 March, with the event doubling as the British Duathlon Championships and the World Sprint Distance Draft Legal Qualifier.

British Champions Crowned

James Lonsdale claimed the Open Men’s British Championship title with a dominant display over the 4.3km run / 21.6km bike / 4.3km run course. Lonsdale navigated the technical Oulton Park circuit expertly, combining strong running with a smooth cycling leg to take gold.

In the women’s race, Charlotte Alexander was crowned Open Women’s British Champion with an impressive performance across all three disciplines. Alexander showed why she is one of the most consistent performers on the UK duathlon circuit, pacing her effort perfectly over the demanding course.

Race Format and Course

The Oulton Park Spring Duathlon features one of the most unique settings in British multisport — athletes race on the actual motor racing circuit, giving the event a spectacular atmosphere and a fast, technical bike leg. The format of two runs sandwiching a bike leg (4.3km run / 21.6km bike / 4.3km run) tests both running strength and cycling ability in equal measure.

As a World Sprint Distance Draft Legal Qualifier, the race also carried significant international importance, with athletes competing for places at World Triathlon events later in the year.
