Nike Pegasus Plus 2: What’s New in Nike’s Updated Tempo Trainer

Nike released the Pegasus Plus 2 on Nike.com on 3 September 2026, the second generation of its ZoomX-cushioned tempo trainer. It’s not a race shoe — it sits above the standard Pegasus as an everyday-plus option with race-shoe foam in a more durable daily-training package.

What’s Changed

  • Curved, visible Air Zoom unit — Nike calls it an “Air Zoom engine,” positioned in the midsole to ease the transition through the stride, replacing the previous model’s more conventional setup.
  • ZoomX foam — the same super-critical foam used in Nike’s racing shoes, carried through from the first Pegasus Plus.
  • Stack and drop — Nike lists a 29mm forefoot / 39mm heel stack with a 10mm drop.
  • Weight — approximately 265g in a men’s US10, in the same territory as the outgoing model.

Nike says the combination delivers at least 18% greater energy return than the original Pegasus Plus — that’s the manufacturer’s own figure, not independently verified, so treat it as a claim rather than a settled fact until third-party lab testing catches up.

Price and UK Availability

Nike has priced the Pegasus Plus 2 at $170 in the US. UK pricing and an Amazon UK listing hadn’t appeared at the time of writing, roughly a week after release — Nike often stages UK availability a little behind the US launch. We’ll update this once a UK price and stock are confirmed.

What to Buy in the Meantime

If you want a Nike trainer today rather than waiting on UK stock, our review of the standard Pegasus covers Nike’s core everyday trainer, which remains readily available:

For a hands-on first impression from a shoe that’s already in testers’ hands, see Outside Run’s first-look review — the Achilles-friendly high drop and “snappy” ride are the main early takeaways from testers who’ve run in the shoe.

We’ll convert this into a full hands-on review once the shoe is available to buy in the UK.
