Wahoo TRACKR Radar Review 2026: A Genuine Challenger to Garmin’s Varia

Rear-facing bike radar has gone from a novelty to something close to standard kit for anyone training on open roads, and for years Garmin’s Varia range had the category largely to itself — we’ve reviewed the Varia RTL515 here. Wahoo’s TRACKR Radar is its first serious attempt at the same job, pairing a taillight with a radar unit that warns you of approaching traffic through a compatible bike computer.

  • 150m detection range — with a 35-degree field of vision behind the rider, flagging vehicles on a compatible ELEMNT computer before you’d otherwise notice them.

What We Like

Independent reviews from BikeRadar, Cyclingnews and road.cc are broadly positive: the light output is strong, and the radar performs on par with or better than the established competition in most conditions. As a first-generation product going up against a long-established rival, that’s a genuinely strong showing.

Where It Falls Short

Reviewers note occasional blind spots compared with Garmin’s wider-field RearVue units, most noticeable on sweeping bends rather than straight roads. The mounting bracket is also secure but bulkier than some alternatives, which can be awkward on a small aero seatpost or a TT bike with limited seatpost clearance.

Verdict

If you’re already inside the Wahoo ecosystem with an ELEMNT computer, the TRACKR Radar is an easy recommendation and a genuine alternative to Garmin’s Varia line rather than a distant follower. Riders doing early-morning or low-light road sessions in particular will get the most out of the combined light-and-radar warning.
