What the retailer lists

  • Closure: an off-set centre flap with a BOA L6 dial for quick adjustment.
  • Upper: a perforated synthetic leather composite, with a surround-wrapping structure that reduces overlap.
  • Construction: an integrated seamless midsole and upper.
  • Sole: glass-fibre reinforced nylon for power transfer, with a low stack height and stainless steel pedal body plates.
  • Cleats: SPD-SL, so it takes three-bolt road cleats.
  • Sizes: men’s Euro 36 to 50 and women’s Euro 36 to 42, per the Tredz size chart.

Where it fits for triathletes

The points below are our reading of the listed features, not test results.

  • Entry to SPD-SL. It pairs with SPD-SL pedals such as the Ultegra pedals we have reviewed. We have not tested the shoe.
  • Sole. A nylon sole is a lower-stiffness option than carbon. Shimano says it is built for power transfer, and we have no flex figures.
  • Price. At £54.99 it is £55.00 below the RRP.
