It’s a racing shoe, not a shoe to log big weekly mileage in.

Compared with the Tecton X 3, the headline change isn’t the plate count or the foam — both carry the same dual-PEBA, dual-carbon-plate concept forward — it’s how that plate is packaged (hidden rather than visible at the sidewall) and a fully reworked Matryx Micro upper that early testers rate as more breathable and better-locking than the outgoing shoe. Weight is essentially a wash: independent reviewer scales put men’s samples anywhere from about 9.2–9.7oz (261–275g) depending on size and source, which is in the same range as the X3 rather than a dramatic drop.

On price and availability, treat this as still-emerging: US retail listings (Running Warehouse, RoadTrailRun) confirm a US price of roughly $275 and an order date of 20 August 2026, and HOKA’s own site currently lists the shoe under “Coming Soon” rather than as a live, buyable product. We have not been able to confirm a firm UK price or UK release date from HOKA UK or a UK retailer at the time of writing — based on how HOKA has historically priced its carbon trail racers in the UK, expect somewhere in the region of £230–£260, but treat that as an estimate, not a confirmed figure, until HOKA UK lists it.
