HOKA Clifton 11 Preview: What to Expect from Hoka's 2026 Daily Trainer
The HOKA Clifton is the brand's best-selling running shoe — a maximal-cushioning daily trainer that has built a huge following among runners, triathletes and ultrarunners alike. With the Clifton 10 now well established after its April 2025 launch, attention is turning to what comes next. The HOKA Clifton 11 is expected in July 2026, and early reports suggest a significant update is on the way.
What We Know So Far
The HOKA Clifton 11 is anticipated to feature a 42mm stack height — up from the Clifton 10's 36mm — combined with an 8mm heel-to-toe drop. This would push the Clifton firmly into max-cushioning territory, bridging the gap between a standard daily trainer and the bigger-stacked Bondi. The outsole is expected to retain HOKA's proven CMEVA foam for everyday durability rather than switching to a more volatile race-day compound.
Expected Changes from Clifton 10
- Higher stack: 42mm vs 36mm — more cushioning underfoot for recovery runs and long slow distance
- Updated upper: Expected improvements to fit and breathability based on user feedback on the Clifton 10
- Improved outsole: Enhanced rubber placement for longer lifespan — a common request from high-mileage runners
- Wider fit option: HOKA has been expanding wide-fit options across the range; a 2E width Clifton 11 would be welcome
Why Triathletes Use the Clifton
The Clifton is a training shoe, not a race shoe — but it earns its place in your rotation as the high-volume, low-intensity option for easy runs, recovery sessions and long slow distance. The thick cushioning protects tired legs during heavy training blocks, and the relatively low weight (compared to maximalist shoes like the Bondi) makes it suitable for tempo work too.
For sprint and Olympic distance triathletes, the Clifton makes an excellent everyday trainer paired with a race shoe like the HOKA Rocket X 2 or Mach X. For 70.3 and IRONMAN athletes, it's ideal for the accumulated mileage of a 16-20 week build.
When Does the HOKA Clifton 11 Launch?
Based on credible sources, the Clifton 11 is expected in July 2026, a slight delay from HOKA's typical spring release pattern. This may be to avoid competing with the HOKA Mach 7 launch in March. Pricing is expected to be around £140, in line with the Clifton 10. We will update this preview with confirmed specs, images and pricing as soon as they are available.
