What the manufacturer and retailers list

  • Waterproofing: listings describe a three-layer build with Giro’s RainGuard membrane between a nylon outer and a hypoallergenic liner.
  • Outer: a knit with a bonded TPU skeletal structure for support, treated for water repellency.
  • Details: stitch-free slip-on cuff, touchscreen-compatible fingertips, non-slip palm and printed reflective logos.
  • Materials: listings give 90% nylon, 8% spandex and 2% rubber.
  • Temperature: retailer listings quote use down to about 5°C, so this is a cool-and-wet glove rather than a freezing-weather one.

Where it fits a triathlete’s autumn

The points below are our reading of the listed specs, not test results.

  • Wet 5-10°C rides. The membrane is the point: it is meant to keep hands dry in rain, which a windproof glove will not do over a long ride.
  • Layer for real cold. At about 5°C and below, a thin waterproof glove with no heavy insulation will probably need a liner underneath.
  • Dexterity. Thin knit gloves usually leave more feel for the brake and gear levers than bulky winter mitts, though we have not tested this pair.
